Our method

What we check, and where the numbers come from.

Five points, the ones a customer runs into before walking through your door. For each: what we look at, the source, and why it costs you customers.

Five checks, the same for every shop.

Everything is checked from the outside, the way a customer would. We don't need access to any of your accounts.

  1. 01

    Your Google profile

Address, opening hours, photos, rating and number of reviews. And whether an old listing marked “permanently closed”, or a duplicate, still exists under your name.

    Source
Google Maps, read through Google's official interface (Google Places).
    What it costs you
Wrong opening hours mean a customer outside a locked door. A “closed” listing under your name means a customer who thinks you've gone.
  2. 02

Where you stand on key searches

We run a customer's search, your trade and your neighbourhood (for example “florist 1205 Genève”), and note the independent shops that come up, with their rating and number of reviews. Big chains are left out of the comparison.

    Source
Google Maps search, through Google's official interface.
    What it costs you
A customer searching nearby picks from the first names they see. If it isn't yours, it's a neighbour's.
  3. 03

    Swiss directories

Are your name, address and phone number the same on search.ch and local.ch as on Google?

    Source
search.ch, queried directly. local.ch runs on the same database; we check it by hand when a mismatch shows up.
    What it costs you
An old address in a directory doesn't stay in the directory: it can resurface elsewhere, for instance in an AI assistant's answer.
  4. 04

    Your website on a phone

Does your Google profile link to a website? Does it load quickly and display properly on a phone?

    Source
PageSpeed Insights, Google's measurement tool (Lighthouse engine), in mobile mode. The same one we apply to our own site.
    What it costs you
People often look you up from the street, on their phone. A site that's slow to appear gets closed before they've seen your opening hours.
  5. 05

    Your presence in AI assistants

We ask an AI assistant a customer's question: “What do you know about this shop, at this address?”. Three possible outcomes: nothing, a correct answer, or a wrong one (wrong address, shop said to be closed).

    Source
Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, with web search. The question and the answer are kept word for word.
    What it costs you
More and more customers ask an assistant instead of Google. A wrong answer, given with confidence, sends them elsewhere.

Every finding is dated and comes from a public source. When a data point is missing (no website, no reviews, no answer), the audit says so instead of making up a number.

The result: an audit card.

The most costly findings, on one page, sent in the body of the email. Here, a fictional example with no real shop name, translated for illustration: audits are sent in French, or in English on request.

Your customers rate you 4.8/5. Google, meanwhile, still shows a “closed” listing under your name.

Three issues costing you customers
1

Google shows a “permanently closed” listing under your name

A Google listing for Boutique Exemple (Rue de l'Exemple 52, 1205 Genève) is marked “permanently closed”. It still comes up when people search for your shop on Google.

Why it matters: a customer who finds it may think you've closed, or go to the wrong address.

2

An AI assistant gives the wrong address

We asked Claude (Anthropic's AI assistant), with web search: “What do you know about Boutique Exemple, a fashion shop, Rue de l'Exemple 10, 1205 Genève?”. It answers with the old address, Rue de l'Exemple 52.

Why it matters: more and more customers ask an AI assistant instead of Google. A wrong answer, given with confidence, sends them elsewhere.

3

5 times more reviews at a nearby shop

An independent shop in your area (1205 Genève) has 118 Google reviews; you have 23. Yet your rating is 4.8/5.

Why it matters: the number of reviews weighs on your ranking in Google Maps, and on the choice of a customer who doesn't know you yet.
